We at the Juma studio have been trying to design a logo to go with our Juma wordmark for quite some time now...and finally we came up with something that we love. So we thought maybe people would be interested to know how we got to this point.
Really...we started trying to design something almost two years ago now, but we just kept giving up...it's not that easy to develop a logo it seems. This time around we were a little more dedicated and the options were just a little better. We really wanted something that represented Juma perfectly, clean, simple, elegant, modern, with a bit of an edge. It's a lot to fit into one symbol! The concept was to create a symbol based off of the letter J, and then the idea came about to have symmetrical J's, which in a way is a symbol of both designers of the brand, as cheesy as that may sound.
The design evolved pretty quickly from different gothic J's to the hebrew version of the letter J. None of these J's really worked...we kept looking at them and deciding they just looking wrong, or they looked like a fish, or horns...or some sort of alien life form. So what we ended up with was a completely original shape developed from using elements of the gothic letters and the hebrew letters...and voila! We now have a logo.
Check out our evolution, we've posted a series from our original ideas, to our secondary, and finally the last two options that we debated over.
